Access Table Data Scrambler

The purpose of this tool is to provide a way of making an Access db publicly available without exposing real names, addresses, social security numbers, etc. It is just not a wise thing to do.

This tool will scramble the data in any selected fields. It was designed to work primarily with Text and Memo field types. I didn't want alter numerical data as numerical data is used a lot for relationships, automunbering and the like. However, numerical dat fields can be 'force scrambled' by using the "Scramble One Field" section of the form. Just manually enter the name of the table and field in the controls provided.

The "tmpScramble" table temporarily houses the names of tables and their Text and Memo fields. It is populated by clciking the "Get Table Fields" button. Clicking the "Get Table Fields" button will first empty the temp table, then re-populate it.

These functions use the DAO methodology, so be sure to set a reference to DAO when using in your db.

This Access 97 version converts easily to Access 2000, 2002 and/or 2003.

Special thanks to Bob (raskew) at Utter Access for the number scramble feature.
